About a month ago, our Edy Ridge chess team went to the Jack Weeks Chess Tournament and competed against Middleton, Hopkins, and Archer Glen.  We got third place, and we relinquished the trophy that we held for the past two years.  I know our chess team was bummed, but they showed excellent sportsmanship and respect during the competition.  So, last weekend, they competed in Regionals, which had teams from all over the area including the four Sherwood elementary schools.  Well, I can tell you that your Edy Ridge chess team made a comeback.  They passed ahead of our Sherwood teams, and only missed winning the regional tournament by a half a point behind Mary Woodward from Tigard.

Your Edy Ridge chess team was invited to participate in the State Tournament at the Oregon Convention Center in mid-March.  We have an exceptional chess club, and our team of five boys and one girl will continue to represent Edy Ridge moving forward, including three who will compete as individuals in the State Tournament.

Our own Edy Ridge school tournament will take place on Thursday, March 13 from 1:00-4:30 p.m.  This is an early-release day, and all players, from all skill levels are invited to participate.  Kids will get to play five rounds and have pizza for $1/slice.  To register for the school tournament, please click here to download the registration form or pick one up in the main office.  Registrations are due by Monday, March 10.
